The Fishing

Come and fish on Spain’s lower River Ebro. Surrounded by beautiful countryside and mountains, the huge amount of natural food means that the waters of the lower Ebro are the perfect breeding ground for catfish of well over 100lb.

At Ebrocatfish we offer:

Expert guided boat trips for catfish

Boat Trips

The lower Ebro is a very diverse river, from the weir at Xerta, with its fast-flowing shallows and deep glides, on through Aldover down to Tortosa, where the river begins to slow and widen. At Amposta, it becomes even wider and straightens out, with deep trenches that are ideal for drift fishing.

But whichever part of the river we choose to fish, the scenery is stunning.  Blue skies, sunshine, surrounded by mountains and with catfish rods out  – HEAVEN, who could ask for more?

Your day on the River

The day can start to suit you. We will decide the night before which part of the river to fish, depending on your preference and of course on local conditions. Fresh bait will be supplied so no delay in getting you out on the river, to get at those cats. Depending on conditions, we will start the day drifting along the margins, or shallower parts of the middle of the river, float-fishing with live bait. At times anchoring up and ledgering live or dead baits in known deeper hotspots. Bait will normally be eels, mullet or cruscian carp. We would aim to fish a minimum of 8 hours, but the day can be tailor-made to suit your requirements.

There is no need to worry about your fishing licence. We will organise your annual licence from the Department of Agriculture & Fisheries. This will be waiting for you on your arrival. All we need from you is a photocopy of your passport. Licences cost 15€ each, parties of 3+ can be catered for with additional accommodation boats and guides.

We would also strongly advise that each member of your party has travel insurance including cover for fishing.
